B2B and business park sites
Where the reader is a buyer, a procurement team or someone checking a supplier before a meeting. Capability, accreditations, evidence and an obvious route to a conversation.
Web design & development · Solihull
Crafting Realm's Paper Craft & Stamping Show runs at the National Motorcycle Museum in Bickenhill and its tickets, its door scanning and its show diary run on software we built. It is a short drive from wherever you are reading this and you are welcome to buy a ticket and see it working.
The Solihull market
Solihull is in the West Midlands rather than Warwickshire, which matters more than it sounds — the borough's economy points north and west into Birmingham rather than south into the county and its business base is shaped by three things that have nothing to do with the town centre. Jaguar Land Rover's plant at Lode Lane is one of the largest manufacturing employers in the region. Birmingham Airport, the NEC and the railway interchange sit together at Bickenhill. And Blythe Valley Park, Birmingham Business Park and the corridor along the M42 hold a dense concentration of corporate offices, professional firms and their suppliers.
That produces an unusual customer profile. A great deal of Solihull business is B2B, sells into large organisations and is judged on a website by procurement teams and by people checking a supplier before a meeting. Credibility, specification, accreditations and speed matter considerably more than personality. At the same time the borough is affluent and residential — Knowle, Dorridge, Shirley, Olton, Hampton-in-Arden — with a strong consumer trade in professional services, clinics, home improvement, wellbeing and hospitality serving people with money and very little patience.
The town centre itself and Touchwood in particular, is a genuine retail destination rather than a struggling high street, which is increasingly rare. Around it sits the independent trade that a wealthy catchment supports: restaurants, aesthetics and dental practices, specialist retail, financial and legal advice. This is a market where looking cheap is a specific commercial problem, because the customer's assumption of quality is doing a lot of the selling before they ever make contact.
The honest note about distance. We are in Kenilworth, about twenty-five minutes down the A452 and we are not going to claim to be a Solihull firm. What we can say is that we already work in the borough, we can name where and the work is not a landing page — it is the ticketing and door system for a show at the National Motorcycle Museum, running on every show day.
Twenty-five minutes down the A452 and already working in the borough.
Where the reader is a buyer, a procurement team or someone checking a supplier before a meeting. Capability, accreditations, evidence and an obvious route to a conversation.
Ticketing, door scanning, show diaries and the booking journey behind an event. This is the work we did for Crafting Realm's show at the National Motorcycle Museum and it is more system than website.
For the aesthetics, dental, legal and financial practices a wealthy catchment supports. Credible, fast, clear on the service and wired into whatever diary you actually run.
Catalogues, payments, personalisation, trade pricing and fulfilment, built on the foundations behind SmartGiftShop rather than a plugin we read about last week.
In this catchment that is a commercial requirement rather than vanity. Typography, spacing, photography and speed do most of that work — far more than animation does.
Bookings, memberships, accounts, ticketing, internal tools. Written in-house, owned by you, with no per-seat licence at renewal.
What this looks like in practice
Patterns rather than named clients. Which of them are yours is usually clear within five minutes of looking properly.
Stock imagery, a template layout and cramped typography, in a catchment where the customer's assumption of quality does much of the selling. The site actively argues against the price you want to charge.
A site that supports the price
A buyer shortlisting suppliers cannot find the accreditation, the capability detail or the case evidence, so the enquiry goes elsewhere. Nobody ever tells you this happened.
The evidence findable before the enquiry
Events, availability, admissions and booking all live somewhere else — a PDF, a phone call, a third-party system that looks nothing like the site. Every handoff loses people.
One journey, end to end
The borough is large and the searches that convert carry district names — Knowle, Dorridge, Shirley, Hampton-in-Arden. One page saying "Solihull" repeatedly matches none of them.
Content that matches how people search
Four stages, a fixed price agreed before stage three and you can stop after any of them.
Who you are trying to reach, what they search for and what you need them to do. Half a day that saves a great deal of rebuilding later.
Pages planned around what people actually type. We write the first draft if you want — most people would rather we did and then correct it.
Built to the fixed price you agreed. You see it on a staging URL and can click through the whole thing long before anything goes public.
Analytics, Search Console and a review after the first few months — because the first version is never the final one.
Local proof
Crafting Realm runs the Paper Craft & Stamping Show in the museum's ballroom, with shows at three other venues besides. We built the site and the system behind it: one diary for every show, tickets sold online without a per-ticket platform fee and a door scanner that works on an ordinary phone with no signal. It is a real show in this borough, open to the public and you are welcome to buy a ticket and see the thing we are describing rather than take our word for it.
About twenty-five minutes from our studio in Kenilworth. No travel charge and no minimum job to get us to come out and look at something.
It depends on the number of pages and how much of the writing you want us to do, so we quote each site individually rather than publish a price list. E-commerce, ticketing and booking platforms start higher. Fixed price against a written scope, never a day rate.
No. We are in Kenilworth, about twenty-five minutes away and we would rather say that plainly than imply an office we do not have. We do work in the borough — Crafting Realm's show at the National Motorcycle Museum in Bickenhill runs on our ticketing — and we come out to clients as a matter of course.
Yes — and in this case you can use it. Buy a ticket at craftingrealm.co.uk for the show at the National Motorcycle Museum and you will go through the checkout and the door scanner we built. Our own products, ClubBrander and SmartGiftShop, are online and were built and are run entirely by us.
It changes the shortlist. Procurement and buying teams check suppliers before making contact and they are looking for specification, accreditation and evidence. A site that reads as marketing rather than as evidence quietly fails that check.
Yes. Every heading, paragraph, image and price is editable from an admin and the layouts hold, so nothing can be broken by accident.
Yes, on our own servers — SSL, daily backups and updates included as standard. The code and the domain are in your name and the site is portable, so you are not locked in.
What we build, what is included as standard and what we will not do — the full picture, with prices.
